Prior Checks

Before making the payment for the goldfish ensure that are the goldfish healthy. Now the question that arises in the mind of the majority of people is that how to ensure that a goldfish is healthy or not? The answer is very simple, stand in front of the aquarium the goldfish is in and keenly observe the following details:

•  The fish should be very active, looking for food and swimming around. It should not look lazy sitting at the bottom.

• Look for a goldfish that has red color spots or patches on the body or the fins.

For instance, one should never mix Black Moor goldfish having two tails and weak eyesight should not be placed in the same tank with Comet goldfish having a single tail and very strong eyesight. The result will be that it will starve.

Safe Journey Home

When taking the goldfish home make sure to maintain the right temperature of water the goldfish is in. This is so because goldfish are temperature sensitive. If the journey between the pet shop and home is not very far then one can carry the fish in a normal container and immediately after reaching home transfer it to a water tank with a temperature controller. In case the journey is longer then make sure to arrange a proper way to maintain the required temperature, else the sudden temperature change will stress the goldfish causing illness or even death.

Goldfish are majorly found in large ponds where they have ample space to swim. Later they are caught and stored in water tanks with less water capacity. There is a high possibility that this can cause stress in goldfish and when they are bought and mix with other fishes then it can spread this disease further. Hence, one must quarantine every new fish before adding it to the water tank.

Water Tank Decoration Can Be Dangerous

Artificial rocks, sharp seashells, and other decorative items can dissolve in the water of the tank in case of fluctuations in the pH. Also, ensure that the decoration should not have sharp edges else the goldfish can get hurt. This becomes extremely important if the goldfish has weak eyesight. Clean the water tank after regular intervals to ensure proper hygiene and safety in the long run.
